Official Information

Overview

Long-term residence visa for foreign nationals employed by a Peruvian company under a formal labor contract.

The Resident Work Visa (Trabajador Residente Dependiente) is governed by Peru’s Legislative Decree No. 1350, the primary framework for migration established in 2017 to modernize and regulate the entry, stay, and residence of foreign nationals. This visa fills the gap for long-term foreign talent integration by providing a legal pathway for individuals to reside and work formally within the Peruvian labor market. It ensures that foreign employment is conducted in compliance with national labor laws, including specific workforce composition quotas.

This visa is designed for foreign professionals who have secured a formal employment contract with a Peruvian-registered company. It is ideal for those seeking to relocate to Peru for full-time, long-term employment. What makes this visa distinctive is that it requires the employment contract to be approved by the Ministry of Labor and Promotion of Employment (MTPE), and it serves as a foundational step toward permanent residency after three years of continuous, legal residence in the country.
