T15 — Permanent Residence (Permanente)

Permanent Residence (Permanente) is a status granted under the framework of Peruvian immigration law, allowing foreign nationals to reside in the country indefinitely. It serves as the ultimate status for those who have successfully integrated into Peruvian society through years of legal, temporary residency. The requirement of three consecutive years of legal residence ensures that the applicant has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the country, filling the gap between temporary work or family-based visas and the potential for full naturalization as a Peruvian citizen.

This status is intended for long-term residents who have successfully maintained their legal standing through various temporary visa categories, such as work, investment, or family visas. The ideal applicant is someone who has built a stable life in Peru, evidenced by their continuous presence and adherence to immigration rules, specifically the requirement not to be absent from the country for more than 183 days within a 365-day period. Its distinctiveness lies in its indefinite nature, providing the holder with a 'Carné de Extranjería' that grants them rights nearly equivalent to those of a citizen, without requiring the renunciation of their original nationality.
