Overview

Indefinite residence visa for foreigners with permanent passive income of at least USD 1,000/month from pensions, dividends, royalties, or foreign sources.

The Rentista Visa is a long-term residency option established under Peru's immigration laws (Legislative Decree No. 1350) to attract financially independent foreigners who wish to settle in the country without seeking local employment. It fills the gap for retirees and individuals with passive income who require a stable, indefinite legal status that does not rely on a local work contract. By requiring proof of guaranteed, lifelong income from abroad, it ensures that these residents contribute to the local economy through their personal spending while remaining self-sufficient.

This visa is ideal for retirees, investors, or individuals with steady passive income from sources like pensions, rental properties, or dividends. It is distinctive because it grants indefinite residency, provided the holder maintains their financial requirements and does not spend excessive time outside the country. While it prohibits the holder from engaging in remunerated work within Peru, it offers significant benefits, including potential tax exemptions on the import of personal goods. Applicants must demonstrate a minimum permanent annual income and maintain valid health insurance.
