Overview

Residence visa for the spouse or common-law partner of a Peruvian citizen or foreign resident, allowing work in subordinate or independent capacity.

The Family Resident Visa for spouses or partners is rooted in Peru's commitment to family unity, as outlined in the Migration Law (Legislative Decree No. 1350) and its associated regulations. This visa was established to provide a legal pathway for the foreign spouses or common-law partners of Peruvian citizens or foreign residents to live in the country. It addresses the gap between temporary tourist status and long-term integration, allowing family members to reside legally, access public services, and contribute to the local economy.

This visa is designed for the foreign spouse or officially recognized common-law partner of a Peruvian national or a foreigner who already holds valid residence status in Peru. It is distinctive because it grants the holder the right to reside in the country and, significantly, authorizes them to engage in both subordinate and independent remunerated activities. The applicant must provide proof of the legal relationship, such as a marriage certificate or official common-law union registration, and meet standard security and background requirements.
