Official Information

Overview

Residence visa for foreign workers assigned by their employer to perform long-term specialized tasks or functions in Peru.

The Designated Worker Resident Visa (Trabajador Designado Residente) is a long-term residency authorization established under Peru’s migration law (Legislative Decree No. 1350) to accommodate foreign workers assigned to Peru for extended periods. It bridges the gap between temporary project-based visits and permanent local employment, allowing foreign companies to maintain their staff in Peru for long-term assignments while keeping them on the foreign entity's payroll. This visa ensures that long-term foreign personnel remain in a regulated, legal status.

This visa is intended for foreign employees assigned by their overseas employer to perform long-term functions, such as managing a local subsidiary or leading a multi-year project. It is ideal for senior management, technical experts, or specialized staff who need to reside in Peru for an extended duration. Its distinctive nature lies in allowing the worker to maintain their foreign employment status while obtaining formal residency in Peru, providing a stable legal framework for international companies to operate effectively within the country.
