Study — Residence Permit for Study

The Dutch Residence Permit for Study covers non-EU students enrolled in a full-time accredited programme at a university or institute of higher professional education (HBO). The educational institution acts as a recognised IND sponsor and submits the application on the student's behalf.

Valid for the study duration plus 3 months (max 5 years) and renewable, students may work up to 16 hours per week or full-time in June, July and August. The fee is EUR 254. Study years count at half-weight toward the 5-year PR threshold; the permit can convert to a Highly Skilled Migrant or Orientation Year permit.

This visa is ideal for non-EU nationals admitted to a full-time Dutch university or HBO programme who want an institution-sponsored permit with a clear path to post-study work options.
