Japan's Training visa lets foreign nationals gain practical skills within a Japanese organization through a structured internship or technical training program. It targets university students and trainees in fields unavailable at home, and requires a formal agreement between the host company and sending institution.

Stay is typically several months to one year; technical intern trainees may extend to three years. Applicants need a Certificate of qualification from Japan's Immigration Services Agency and must plan to return home afterward. The application fee is JPY 3,000. No work authorization or PR pathway is provided.
