The Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) for Indian nationals was formally introduced by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government on January 23, 2017, as a strategic adjustment to the territory’s immigration policy. The ideal applicant is a genuine visitor—such as a corporate traveler attending a conference, a tourist exploring the city’s landmarks, or a transit passenger connecting through Hong Kong International Airport—who holds a passport valid for at least six months and does not possess the right of abode or the right to land in the territory. What makes this registration distinctive is its efficiency; unlike traditional visa applications that require physical documentation and lengthy processing times, the PAR is an entirely online, free-of-charge system that provides near-instantaneous results.
