Entrepreneur visa for innovative, scalable businesses approved by expert panel.
Start-up Denmark is a specialized residence permit program aimed at ambitious entrepreneurs from outside the EU/EEA who wish to establish and grow innovative, high-growth-potential businesses in Denmark. Unlike traditional work visas, this scheme focuses on the viability and originality of the business concept. Applicants must first submit their business plan to a panel of experts appointed by the Danish Business Authority, who evaluate the proposal based on its potential to contribute to the Danish business ecosystem, its scalability, and its innovative nature.
This visa is designed for founders and co-founders who are ready to actively participate in the development of their venture on Danish soil. It is not intended for passive investors or those looking to open traditional service-based businesses like retail shops or restaurants. By providing a pathway for international entrepreneurs, Denmark seeks to foster a dynamic, globalized startup culture. Successful applicants gain the opportunity to build their company within one of the world's most stable and supportive business environments, with the potential to transition toward permanent residency if the business remains successful.
