Overview

This visa allows the spouse and unmarried children under 21 of a principal asylee to join them in the United States.

The V-92 is a US derivative status that reunites principal asylees with their immediate family overseas. Spouses and unmarried children under 21 may join the asylee in the US after an approved Form I-730 petition — at no standard immigration fee cost.

Beneficiaries receive work authorization incident to their derivative asylee status, valid indefinitely. Status is indefinite as long as the principal maintains asylum. After one year of physical presence, beneficiaries may apply to adjust to lawful permanent resident status via Form I-485.

This visa is ideal for spouses and minor children of US-based asylees who are outside the US and need a no-fee path to join their family and gain work authorization.
