Overview

A nonimmigrant visa for unmarried minor children (under 21) of an LPR who have a pending I-130 petition filed on or before December 21, 2000.

The V-2 is a US nonimmigrant visa for unmarried children under 21 of a Lawful Permanent Resident where the I-130 petition was filed on or before December 21, 2000, and has been pending for at least three years. It lets the child live in the US while awaiting an immigrant visa priority date.

The visa is valid until the child turns 21 and can be renewed while the petition remains pending. Holders may apply for work authorization via EAD. Because all qualifying priority dates have now become current, no V-2 visas have been issued for many years.

This visa is ideal for minor children of LPRs with a very old, still-pending I-130 filed before December 21, 2000, who need a legal status bridge while awaiting an immigrant visa.
