The K-1 visa, often referred to as the fiancé(e) visa, was established under the Immigration and Nationality Act to facilitate the immigration of future spouses of United States citizens. Its primary purpose is to allow a foreign national to enter the United States for the specific intent of marrying their U.S. citizen petitioner within a strictly defined timeframe.
