Religious visa for foreign clergy and missionaries approved by Thai authorities to perform spiritual work in recognized religious organizations.
The Non-Immigrant R visa permits foreign clergy, missionaries, and religious educators to perform approved religious and missionary work in Thailand with Department of Religious Affairs endorsement. This specialized pathway accommodates spiritual vocations outside standard employment definitions, requiring formal approval from Thailand's Ministry of Culture.
The R visa grants 90 days for single-entry or up to 1 year for multiple-entry (R-A). Fees start at USD 80 for single-entry and USD 200 for multiple-entry; both are non-refundable. Applications require at least 15 working days processing via thaievisa.go.th. Spouses cannot work under this visa, and holders are restricted to approved religious activities.
This visa is ideal for ordained or commissioned religious professionals—priests, monks, missionaries, or faith educators—invited by Thai religious organizations to lead worship, teach, or provide spiritual services.
