Overview

Thailand's 10-year LTR Work-from-Thailand Professional visa for remote workers earning USD 80K+/yr employed by a qualifying overseas company.

Thailand's LTR Work-from-Thailand Professional visa, launched September 2022 by the Board of Investment, grants remote workers a 10-year residency pathway (5+5) tied to a qualifying overseas employer. The 2025 update lowered the employer-revenue threshold from USD 150M to USD 50M, added wholly-owned subsidiaries, and removed the prior 5-year work-experience rule.

Applicants need USD 80,000/yr income for the past two years (or USD 40,000 with a Master's, IP ownership, or USD 1M Series A), plus USD 50,000 health insurance, Thai SSO cover, or a USD 100,000 12-month deposit. The visa fee is 50,000 THB and endorsement takes 20 working days. No Thai work permit is issued under WFTP since work is performed remotely for the foreign employer.

This visa is ideal for senior remote employees of large overseas firms who want long-term Thai residency without local employment, with broader dependent rights including parents and legal dependents.

Worth Knowing

  • Employer must be publicly listed, a USD 50M+ revenue private company (3+ years), or a wholly-owned subsidiary of either.
  • Eligibility conditions (income, insurance, employment) must be maintained throughout the 10-year visa duration.
  • The 50,000 THB visa fee is non-refundable and additional charges may apply at overseas consulates.
  • Processing can extend beyond 20 working days if BOI or partner agencies request additional documentation.
  • Holders cannot take up local Thai employment under this category without separate work-permit authorization.
  • Personal income below USD 40,000/year over the past two years.
  • Employer is not a listed company, USD 50M+ revenue private company, or its wholly-owned subsidiary.
  • No qualifying health insurance, Thai social security cover, or USD 100,000 12-month deposit.
  • Income USD 40K-80K range without a Master's degree, IP ownership, or USD 1M Series A funding.
