Overview

Temporary work permit for unskilled or semi-skilled foreign trainees to undergo practical training. Limited to 6 months duration for specific sectors and approved training programs.

Singapore's Training Work Permit (TWP) lets employers bring in unskilled or semi-skilled foreign trainees - either staff from related overseas companies or foreign students at Singapore institutions - for short-term practical training. Administered by the Ministry of Manpower under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.

The pass runs up to 6 months and is non-renewable; related-firm staff must wait 6 months before another TWP, and students may only get one. Employers pay SGD 35 to apply and SGD 35 on issuance, must hold sector quota, pay the monthly levy (SGD 200-350), provide medical insurance and a security bond. No qualifying salary, no dependents, no PR pathway. Outcome within 3 weeks.

This visa is ideal for overseas trainees or interning students sponsored by a Singapore-registered company for a defined, time-bound training programme, not regular employment.
