Cultural Visa - 1-Year Residence

The 1-Year Cultural Residence visa was introduced under Royal Decree 156/2025, which came into effect on November 10, 2025, as part of a significant overhaul of Oman's foreign residency framework. This initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040, aiming to diversify the economy and position the Sultanate as a regional hub for arts, culture, and research. By establishing a dedicated residency path for cultural professionals, the government fills a gap in its immigration system, providing a clear, accessible legal status for those contributing to the nation's creative and intellectual ecosystem without requiring a standard employment contract.

This visa is for international artists, academics, researchers, and creative professionals who intend to engage in cultural, artistic, or intellectual work in Oman. The ideal applicant is a creative expert or scholar invited by a recognized Omani cultural body, such as a university, museum, or government ministry. It is distinctive for its flexibility and family-inclusive nature, allowing the primary applicant to reside in Oman for one year while pursuing specific projects, with the option to bring spouses and first-degree relatives under a corresponding joining visa.
