Transit Visa

The Nepal Transit Visa is a specialized short-stay permit intended for travelers passing through Nepal while en route to a third destination country. This visa is specifically designed for individuals who need to exit the airport or stay in Nepal for a brief period—typically up to 24 hours—while waiting for a connecting flight. It is not intended for tourism, business, or any other purpose, and it is strictly non-extendable. This classification ensures that international travelers can manage layovers efficiently without the need for a full tourist visa.

To be qualifying for a transit visa, applicants must provide proof of their onward travel, such as a confirmed air ticket to their final destination. The application process requires the traveler to complete an online visa application form and submit it alongside their passport and travel itinerary. Upon arrival, the applicant must pay the designated visa fee, which is currently set at USD 5. The visa is issued at the discretion of the immigration officer on duty, who will verify the transit documents and ensure the traveler meets the necessary entry requirements for their subsequent destination.
