Visa for transit through Schengen airport international zone without entering the territory.
The Netherlands Type A Airport Transit Visa is required by nationals of certain countries — including Afghanistan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Turkey — to transit through a Dutch Schengen airport without entering the territory. Holders must remain airside and may not access the Schengen Area.
The fee is EUR 90, set by EU-wide Schengen rules. Processing takes 15–45 calendar days; apply at a Dutch embassy or consulate in your country of residence. Transit must be completed within 24 hours. The visa is not renewable and confers no work authorisation or path to residency.
This visa is ideal for travelers from transit-visa-required nationalities who have a connecting flight through Amsterdam Schiphol or another Dutch Schengen hub en route to a non-Schengen destination.
