Overview

One-year renewable temporary residence for representatives of non-profit organizations carrying out charitable, educational, or development work in Nicaragua.

The Temporary Residence – Non-Profit Legal Person visa is established under the provisions of the General Law of Migration and Immigration (Law No. 761) and related regulations governing foreign entities in Nicaragua. This category fills a specific gap for representatives of international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), foundations, and non-profit associations that operate within the country. It provides a legal mechanism for these individuals to live and work in Nicaragua while carrying out humanitarian, social, or development initiatives.

This visa is for representatives, directors, or key personnel of non-profit organizations that are officially registered with the Ministry of Governance (Ministerio de Gobernación). The applicant must be in the country legally and provide proof of the organization's formal registration. It is distinctive because it recognizes the specific role of non-profit work in the country’s social fabric, requiring institutional documentation rather than personal income proof, and it is renewable annually to match the organization's ongoing projects.
