Overview

Five-year renewable permanent residence for foreigners married to or with direct family ties to a Nicaraguan citizen.

The Permanent Residence based on Family Ties is intended for foreign nationals who have established significant personal connections with Nicaraguan citizens. This category recognizes the importance of family unity and allows individuals who are married to a Nicaraguan, or who are parents or children of a Nicaraguan national, to obtain legal residency. The applicant must provide official documentation, such as marriage or birth certificates, to prove the relationship, and often must demonstrate that the Nicaraguan relative can provide financial support or that there is a stable, ongoing family life.

This visa is for those who have integrated into Nicaraguan society through their family. It is a common route for spouses and children of citizens to secure their status, ensuring they can live with their families without the need for constant visa renewals. The process requires rigorous documentation to verify the authenticity of the family bond and the legal status of the Nicaraguan relative. By providing this pathway, Nicaragua facilitates the legal integration of foreign family members, emphasizing the state's recognition of family units as a fundamental component of the social fabric.
