Overview

Allows legally married spouses and dependant children under 21 of a principal permit holder to reside in Namibia for the duration of the primary visa — spouses may work without a separate permit.

The Accompanying Spouse and Dependant Visa is intended for the immediate family members of foreign nationals who are already legally residing in Namibia on a valid permit, such as a work or study permit. This visa facilitates family reunification, allowing spouses and minor children to live with the primary permit holder. It is important to note that Namibia does not recognize life partnerships or same-sex marriages for immigration purposes; therefore, applicants must be legally married to qualify under the spousal category.

Dependants are generally prohibited from working under this visa, though they are permitted to reside in the country. Minor children may attend school without requiring a separate study permit. The primary permit holder acts as the sponsor, providing a letter of undertaking and proof of financial means to ensure that the dependants will not become a public charge. All applicants must meet standard health and security requirements, including medical reports and police clearances, to be granted entry.
