Overview

10-year autonomous Sarawak state programme for foreigners aged 30+ with RM500,000 fixed deposit in a Sarawak bank, offering part-time work rights and tax exemption on offshore funds.

The Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home (S-MM2H) programme is an autonomous residency scheme administered independently by the Sarawak state government. Unlike the mainland MM2H programme, S-MM2H is designed to reflect the unique requirements and development goals of Sarawak. It fills a critical gap for applicants who may find the mainland's property and deposit requirements too restrictive, offering a more flexible, state-specific alternative that allows for limited business investment and part-time work, thereby fostering local economic engagement alongside long-term residency.

This programme is for individuals aged 30 and above who can demonstrate financial stability through offshore income or liquid assets. It is distinctive for its 10-year renewable visa, the lack of a mandatory property purchase requirement, and its allowance for limited business activities within the state. Applicants must place a RM 500,000 fixed deposit in a Sarawak-based bank. It is an excellent choice for those who prefer the unique cultural and environmental landscape of Sarawak and desire a more flexible, investment-friendly residency status compared to the standard national programme.
