Official Information

Overview

Permit for foreign Islamic religious teachers including imams, Quran teachers, and Arabic language instructors sponsored by Malaysian religious institutions, valid up to 3 years.

The Professional Visit Pass for Islamic Religious Teachers is a specific sub-category of the PVP framework, established to facilitate the legal entry of foreign religious scholars and educators into Malaysia. It is regulated by the Immigration Department in close coordination with the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and state-level religious authorities. This pass fills a critical regulatory gap, ensuring that foreign religious personnel—such as imams and Quranic instructors—can provide their services within Malaysia's religious institutions while remaining under the oversight of national and state religious bodies.

This visa is exclusively for foreign Islamic religious teachers, Quran teachers, and Arabic language instructors who have been invited to serve in Malaysia. The ideal applicant is a qualified religious professional who has secured sponsorship from a recognized Malaysian religious institution or school. A defining characteristic of this permit is the requirement for formal endorsement from the relevant Islamic religious departments before the immigration application can proceed. It ensures that religious instruction in the country is provided by verified experts who meet the standards set by Malaysian religious authorities.
