eNTRI (Electronic Travel Registration and Information)

The Electronic Travel Registration and Information (eNTRI) was an online registration facility implemented by the Malaysian government to expedite entry for tourists from specific high-volume markets, most notably the People's Republic of China and India. Unlike a traditional visa application that requires manual adjudication, eNTRI functioned as an automated notification system that provided travelers with an immediate 'eNTRI Note' upon successful registration, serving as a valid travel authorization for short-term visits.

This facility was specifically designed for leisure travelers who required rapid travel clearance without the processing delays associated with standard eVisas or consular-issued visas. It was ideal for spontaneous tourists or those with fixed, short-duration itineraries. A key distinguishing feature was its strict operational parameters, including specific entry and exit point requirements and a mandatory cooling-off period, which differentiated it from the more flexible but slower-to-process Malaysian eVisa.
