Temporary Resident - Religious Worker (Residente Temporal - Actividades Religiosas)

The Temporary Resident visa for religious activities allows foreign clergy and missionaries to reside in Mexico for up to four years serving a registered religious organization. Issued under the 2011 Migration Law, applicants need authorization from a SEGOB-registered religious organization. Work must be non-remunerative and within the organization's scope.

Processing takes 15–30 days. The fee is approximately USD 245 per year for the INM resident card. The visa is renewable up to four years total, after which holders may convert to permanent residency. Dependents are allowed. Spouses cannot work under this visa without separate authorization.

This visa is ideal for ordained clergy, missionaries, and religious workers assigned to an established Mexican religious organization for long-term pastoral or administrative service.
