Fee-exempt visa for foreign government officials, consular officers, administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions, and international organization personnel.
The Official Visa (Visa Oficial) is Mexico's diplomatic instrument for foreign government officials, consular staff, and international organization personnel. Issued under the 2011 Migration Law, it requires an official or service passport and an official note from the sending government or organization recognizing official capacity. Work authorization is limited to specified official duties.
Processing takes 1 to 5 business days. The visa is fee-exempt, renewable, and issued for the duration of the official assignment. Spouses and dependents cannot obtain derivative status under this visa category; they must seek separate sponsorship or have independent visa qualification. The visa terminates when official duties end or the applicant departs the sponsoring entity.
This visa is ideal for diplomats, consular officers, administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions, and personnel from international organizations assigned to conduct official business in Mexico.
