Official Information

Overview

Issued to spouses, minor children, parents, and legal guardians for reunification with family members who are Moldovan citizens or legal residents.

The Long-Stay Family Reunification Visa (Type D/VF) is governed by the Law on the Regime of Foreigners in the Republic of Moldova (Law no. 200/2010). It was established to uphold the fundamental right to family life by allowing foreign nationals to join their relatives who are already legally residing in or are citizens of Moldova. This visa fills the gap for those who need to establish long-term residency to maintain family unity, providing a structured legal pathway for spouses, minor children, dependent parents, and those under guardianship to settle in the country alongside their family members.

This visa is designed for immediate family members of Moldovan citizens or foreign residents holding a valid residence permit. It is ideal for spouses, unmarried minor children, and dependent elderly parents who seek to live together in Moldova. What makes this visa distinctive is that it requires prior approval from the General Inspectorate for Migration, ensuring that the applicant meets specific legal conditions for family reunion before the visa is granted, serving as a critical prerequisite for obtaining a subsequent temporary residence permit.
