Overview

Residence credential for staff of international organizations and EU agencies in Lithuania with restricted immunities under international law.

The International Organization Staff Card (Category E) is a specialized accreditation credential issued by the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania. It is established under Lithuanian national legislation and international agreements to recognize staff members of International Organizations and European Union Agencies operating within the country. This card serves as a vital administrative tool, formally identifying personnel who are entitled to restricted immunities and privileges under international law, thereby bridging the gap between foreign staff status and Lithuanian domestic regulatory frameworks.

This credential is intended for non-Lithuanian nationals who are employed by international missions, representations, or EU agencies stationed in Lithuania. It is distinct because it functions as both an identity document and, for nationals of non-EU/EFTA countries, it effectively equates to both a Schengen visa and a residence permit. It is specifically designed for professionals whose work requires official recognition of their diplomatic or international status, ensuring they can reside and perform their duties in Lithuania with the necessary legal protections and privileges afforded by their respective organizations.
