F-2-1 — Resident Visa (Spouse of Korean National)

The F-2-1 visa was South Korea's resident visa for foreign spouses of Korean nationals, discontinued on December 15, 2011. It provided long-term residency with work authorization and served as a direct pathway to permanent residency (F-5). The visa required proof of marriage authenticity and the Korean spouse's financial ability to support the applicant. Processing typically took 2–4 weeks.

Holders of the F-2-1 visa could work without restrictions and family dependents could accompany the principal visa holder. The visa was renewable as long-term residency. Existing F-2-1 holders transitioned to the new F-6 (Marriage Migrant) visa classification when the program was reformed.
