TR — Transit Visa (Type TR)

The Transit Visa, designated as Type TR, is intended for foreign nationals who need to pass through the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic while en route to a third country. This visa is designed for travelers whose journey requires a stopover or land transit through Kyrgyzstan, providing a legal mechanism for short-term entry. It is a vital tool for international travelers, ensuring that their passage through the country is documented and compliant with national immigration laws, particularly for those whose citizenship does not grant them visa-free access for transit purposes.

To be eligible for a Type TR visa, the applicant must provide clear proof of their transit, such as confirmed flight tickets, travel itineraries, or other evidence demonstrating that their final destination is outside of Kyrgyzstan. Additionally, if the final destination country requires a visa, the applicant must hold that visa before applying for the Kyrgyz transit permit. The validity of this visa is generally short, typically up to five days for air travelers and up to ten days for those crossing by land, reflecting its purpose as a temporary transit document.
