Overview

The Re-entry Visa (Visto di Reingresso) is a long-stay National Visa (Type D) that allows foreign nationals who already hold a valid or recently expired Italian residence permit (Permesso di Soggiorno) to return to Italy if they lost, had stolen, or let their permit expire while abroad.

The Re-entry visa is a specialized Type D visa designed to facilitate the return of legal residents who have lost their physical residence permit or allowed it to expire while outside Italy. It acts as a bridge to allow the holder to re-enter the country and complete the formal renewal or replacement process at the local Questura.

This visa ensures that the applicant's path to long-term residency remains uninterrupted.
