The Sporting Event Visa is a Type C Schengen visa for athletes, coaches, sports directors, and technical staff participating in sports competitions or events recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). Applicants must hold a formal written invitation from CONI or the relevant Italian Sports Federation and demonstrate sufficient financial means of support.
The visa permits stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period and is not renewable. Consular fees are EUR 90 for adults, EUR 45 for children aged 6-11, and free for children under 6. Processing typically takes 15-45 days. Work authorization is limited to the specific sporting event; regular employment is not permitted.
This visa is ideal for international athletes, coaches, sports directors, and support staff traveling to Italy for temporary participation in sanctioned sports competitions.
