Overview

Highly skilled employment with a recognized degree and salary above the member state threshold. Portable across EU after 12 months.

The EU Blue Card is a specialized residence and work permit designed for highly skilled non-EU professionals seeking employment in Italy. It serves as a strategic tool to attract global talent in sectors such as information technology, engineering, finance, and healthcare. By bypassing the standard annual immigration quota system, this permit offers a streamlined pathway for qualified individuals to live and work in Italy. It provides significant benefits, including the right to bring immediate family members, who are subsequently granted full access to the Italian labor market, public healthcare, and educational systems.

To be eligible, applicants must possess a recognized higher education degree (at least three years of study) or equivalent professional experience, and secure a binding job offer in Italy with a salary meeting the established national threshold. The permit is typically valid for up to two years, or for the duration of the employment contract plus three months. After 18 months of legal residence in Italy, Blue Card holders may also benefit from facilitated mobility to other EU member states, making this an ideal choice for professionals aiming for long-term career growth and international flexibility within the European Union.
