Overview

International protection for non-EU citizens facing persecution or serious harm in their country of origin, providing indefinite residency if granted.

The Asilo visa provides international protection for non-EU citizens and stateless persons who cannot safely return to their country of origin. Eligibility requires a well-founded fear of persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or social group membership, or risk of serious harm such as torture or death from armed conflict.

Applicants express intent to police/border authorities and submit the C3 form at a Questura. Assessment by a Territorial Commission typically takes months to years. A temporary residence permit allows legal residence; work authorization begins after 60 days. Dependents are recognized and spouses may work independently. The visa is renewable and grants indefinite status if approved.

This visa is ideal for non-EU citizens and stateless persons fleeing persecution or armed conflict.
