Overview

Temporary residence permit for retirees and persons of independent means with no employment restrictions. Requires €50,000+ annual income and private health insurance.

Stamp 0 is Ireland's temporary residence permission for non-EEA retirees and people of independent means who can fully self-fund their stay. Issued by the Department of Justice's Immigration Service Delivery, it requires verifiable annual income of €50,000 per person (€100,000 jointly for couples), a lump sum for contingencies, and private medical insurance.

Permission is granted one year at a time and renewable annually, but is not reckonable toward long-term residency or citizenship. Holders cannot work, trade, or claim state benefits. A €300 IRP registration fee applies after arrival. Visa-required nationals first apply for a D-Reside long-stay visa via AVATS; processing is typically 4-6 months end-to-end.

This visa is ideal for self-sufficient retirees and persons of independent means seeking an extended Irish residence with private healthcare and no need to work or pursue citizenship.
