Overview

Temporary stay permit (1-2 years) for foreign parents of Indonesian citizens to reside in Indonesia.

The Parent of Indonesian Citizen Visa (Index E31G) is a specialized residency permit established under Indonesian immigration law to facilitate family reunification. It addresses the gap for foreign parents who wish to reside in Indonesia to be closer to their adult children who hold Indonesian citizenship. By providing a formal legal pathway for these parents, the government ensures that family units can remain intact, allowing foreign nationals to live in the country under the sponsorship of their Indonesian child, provided they meet specific documentation and financial requirements.

This visa is intended for the biological or legal adoptive parents of an Indonesian citizen who is 21 years of age or older. It is ideal for parents seeking to spend their retirement or extended time in Indonesia to support their children. A distinctive feature of this visa is its focus on family unity; it allows the holder to reside in Indonesia for 1 to 2 years, with the possibility of extension. While it permits travel and engagement in non-remunerative activities, it is strictly not a work visa, emphasizing its role as a social and familial support mechanism rather than an employment-based permit.
