Requirements

PUBLISHED REQUIREMENTS

Must be a person of African descent in the Diaspora.

Must have resided in Ghana for a significant period (typically 7 years total, with at least 2 years continuous residence immediately preceding the application).

Must demonstrate good character and have no criminal record resulting in imprisonment of 12 months or more.

Must demonstrate an ability to contribute to Ghana's development (e.g., investment, professional skills, or social service).

Must be lawfully residing in Ghana at the time of application.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Completed Right of Abode application form.

Signed application letter addressed to the Minister for the Interior.

Applicant's autobiography.

Valid foreign passport.

Four recent passport-sized photographs.

Medical report from the GIS Clinic.

Valid Non-Citizen ID card.

Police Clearance Certificate from Ghana and country of residence.

Attestation letter by two Ghanaians of repute (Notaries Public, Lawyers, or Senior Public Officers) with copies of their national IDs.
