Under the GIPC Act, companies are granted an initial number of automatic quota slots based on their paid-up capital. When a company expands, takes on new projects, or requires specialized technical expertise that cannot be sourced locally, it may apply for additional slots. These permits are time-bound, typically granted for an initial period of two years, and are subject to renewal based on continued justification of the company's operational needs.

This permit is intended for companies that are actively contributing to the Ghanaian economy through foreign direct investment.
