Overview

This route is designed for individuals currently in the UK who are not recognized as citizens of any country and are unable to live permanently in any other country.

The UK Stateless Person route grants 5-year leave to remain to individuals physically present in the UK who hold no nationality under Article 1(1) of the 1954 Convention and cannot obtain permanent residence in any other country.

The route carries full work and study rights, costs nothing to apply, and leads directly to Indefinite Leave to Remain after 5 continuous years. Partners and children may join under Appendix Statelessness since November 2025.

This visa is ideal for stateless individuals already in the UK who have exhausted all avenues for nationality elsewhere and need a stable, fee-free legal status with a clear path to settlement.
