Overview

Family / Temporary

The Child Relative (Sponsors with Protection) visa lets children under 18 join a close non-parent relative — grandparent, sibling, step-parent, aunt, or uncle — who holds refugee status or humanitarian protection in the UK. Serious and compelling family circumstances must be demonstrated.

Permission is granted in line with the sponsor's leave, up to 33 months (entry clearance) or 30 months (in-country). It is renewable while the sponsor holds protection status, and settlement is possible once the sponsor is settled. Fee waivers are available for destitute applicants.

This visa is ideal for refugee-sponsored children who have no parent able to care for them and need to join a protected close relative in the UK.
