Overview

The Secondments Work Permit is a specific category tailored for employees who are being temporarily transferred from an overseas parent company to its branch, subsidiary, or a partner organization located in Fiji. This permit is ideal for multinational corporations or international entities that need to send staff to Fiji for specific projects, knowledge transfer, or temporary management roles. Unlike standard work permits that may require local labor market testing, the secondment permit acknowledges the existing employment relationship between the foreign worker and their parent company, focusing on the professional transfer of expertise to the local entity.

To apply for this permit, the applicant must hold a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity. A key requirement is the submission of a formal, signed secondment letter from the parent company, which details the nature of the transfer, the duration of the assignment, and the responsibilities of the employee while in Fiji. The application fee for this permit is $452.00. It is crucial that the sponsoring organization in Fiji ensures all documentation is accurate and complete, as the Department of Immigration assesses these applications based on the legitimacy of the corporate relationship and the specific purpose of the secondment. Applicants should ensure their documentation is in order prior to departure to avoid any delays in processing.
