Overview

Long-stay national visa for family members joining a resident of a Schengen country.

The Spain Type D Family Reunification Visa allows family members of legal residents to join them for stays over 90 days. qualifying relatives include spouses or registered partners, children under 18, and dependent parents over 65. The sponsor must have held legal residence in Spain for at least 12 months.

The sponsor must show income of at least 150% of IPREM (~€900/month) for the first dependent, plus 50% per additional member, and must prove adequate housing. The visa fee is €80, processing takes up to 75 days. Holders receive immediate work rights and time accrues toward permanent residency.

Sponsor must have resided legally in Spain for at least one year and hold a valid residence permit (or have applied for renewal).

Sponsor must prove sufficient financial means (150% of IPREM for the first family member, plus 50% for each additional dependent).

Sponsor must provide proof of adequate housing.

Applicant must be a qualifying family member (spouse, registered partner, minor child, or dependent parent/in-law).

Must provide proof of the familial relationship (birth/marriage certificates).

Must provide a criminal record certificate (for applicants over 18) and a medical certificate.
