Overview

The Spain Religious Activities Visa (TRE) is a long-stay permit for foreign clergy, religious ministers, and professed members of orders registered with the Spanish Ministry of Justice. It exempts holders from standard work permit rules, covering strictly religious, contemplative, or statutory activities.

Residence is granted for 1 year and is renewable, with holders eligible for permanent residency after 5 continuous years. The sponsoring entity assumes full financial responsibility. Accompanying family members may obtain a non-lucrative visa but are not authorized to work.

This visa is ideal for ordained ministers, monks, nuns, and lay religious workers formally deployed to a Spain-registered faith organization who need legal long-term residence for religious duties.
