Special 10-Year Residence Permit (تصريح إقامة خاصة 10 سنوات)

The Special 10-Year Residence Permit is a long-standing status maintained by the Egyptian Ministry of Interior for foreign nationals with historical roots in the country. Unlike short-term tourist or work permits, it offers a stable, renewable framework for residency without conferring Egyptian citizenship. It is administered by the General Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality.

The permit runs for 10 years and is renewable on application. Eligibility is narrowly defined: foreign nationals born in Egypt before 26 May 1952, or those who continuously resided in Egypt for 20 years before that date. Wives and minor children of eligible holders are authorised under the same permit. Applications are filed through the Passports authority with supporting documentation.

This visa is ideal for long-resident foreign families with deep pre-1952 ties to Egypt seeking a decade-long legal status — not for new investors, retirees, or applicants pursuing citizenship.
