This permit is for individuals aged 60+ who have retired from an international organization or EU institution based in Denmark, with at least 12 years of legal residence and financial stability. The Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) administers this pathway, which also provides a route to permanent residency after 5 years.
The permit lasts up to 2 years and is renewable. The application fee is DKK 3,650 with processing taking up to 7 months. Spouses and partners may apply for accompanying family permits. Applicants must pass Prøve i Dansk 1 or equivalent Danish language proficiency. The permit does not include work authorization; it is designed exclusively for retirement residence.
