Religious Worker (Religiøs forkynder)

The Religious Worker residence permit is provided for under the Danish Aliens Act to allow foreign nationals to serve as clergy, missionaries, or in other religious capacities within recognized denominations in Denmark. This scheme fills the gap for religious organizations that require specialized personnel from abroad to perform essential spiritual, pastoral, or missionary functions that cannot be met by the domestic workforce, thereby supporting the religious freedom and diversity of the Danish community.

This visa is for individuals who have a documented background, training, or education relevant to their religious role and who have secured a position with an officially acknowledged or sanctioned religious denomination in Denmark. What makes this permit distinctive is the requirement for the religious organization to confirm the applicant's affiliation and the necessity of the role relative to the size of the denomination. Applicants must also commit to upholding Danish laws, including those regarding fundamental rights and freedoms.
