Overview

This residence and work permit is designed for foreign healthcare professionals (doctors, dentists, and nurses) trained outside the EU/EEA to reside in Denmark while learning Danish and passing the professional tests required to obtain Danish authorization.

The Authorisation Scheme allows non-EU/EEA healthcare professionals to reside in Denmark to complete the necessary steps for Danish medical authorization. While it grants full work rights, it is currently heavily restricted by 2026 quotas for doctors and nurses. It serves as a temporary bridge to professional practice rather than a direct path to permanent residency.
