Required for nationals of specific countries to transit through the international zone.
The Germany Airport Transit Visa (Type A) is required for nationals of specific countries—including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka, and others—to pass through the international transit zone of German airports without entering the Schengen area.
Holders must remain in the international transit zone and cannot enter Germany. The visa covers a single transit of up to 24 hours, costs €90 for adults (12+) and €45 for children aged 6–11 (free under 6), and typically takes 7–45 working days to process.
This visa is ideal for travellers from affected nationalities making a connecting flight through a German hub airport—Frankfurt, Munich, or Dusseldorf—en route to a non-Schengen destination.
