The Niederlassungserlaubnis is Germany's indefinite residence permit, granting permanent, unrestricted rights to live and work anywhere in the country. It requires 5 years of legal residence (or 21–27 months for EU Blue Card holders), 60 months of pension contributions, B1 German, and financial self-sufficiency.

The permit has no expiration; only the physical card needs periodic renewal. Fees range from €55 (minors) to €147 (highly qualified), with processing taking 2 to 6 months. Spouses may join under family reunification and gain immediate, unrestricted work rights in Germany.
