Overview

Visa authorizing transit through the international zone of a Czech airport without entering the Schengen Area, valid for up to 6 months.

The Airport Transit Visa (Letištní průjezdní vízum) is a specific short-term authorization designed for nationals of certain countries who need to pass through the international transit zone of a Czech airport while en route to a non-Schengen destination. It is strictly limited to the international area of the airport; holders are not permitted to enter the territory of the Czech Republic or the wider Schengen Area. This visa ensures that travelers from specific regions, identified by EU regulations as requiring closer oversight, have the necessary documentation to complete their layovers without violating immigration protocols.

This visa is intended for individuals whose travel itinerary involves a connection at a Czech international airport. It is not required for travelers who hold valid Schengen visas, long-term residence permits from EU/EEA countries, or specific permits from countries like the USA, Canada, or Japan. Applicants must provide proof of their onward travel and ensure they have the legal right to enter their final destination. The visa is typically issued for one or two entries and is valid for a maximum duration of six months, providing a streamlined process for transit passengers who do not intend to leave the airport's international zone.
